Is God’ promise for you today?
Claiming the promise of God for your life is like believing a true friend when they tell you they will help do something for you and actually do it 🙂 The problem for believers today is that most of their friends will say they will help do something but then back out of actually doing it.
When we hear of God’s promises today, in the back of our minds we think of our friends or family members that say they would do something but don’t. It’s like a natural defense system that we have created.
So when we claim God’s promises and nothing happens in our own time frame then we give up, like we did with our friends.
Instead we need to consider that the promise of God are “yea and Amen” (2 corinthians 1:20).
We desperately need to meditate on this verse of scripture for a while and really understand what God is telling us. Just think if God was not to keep just one of his promises found in our Bible, Heaven and Earth will pass away. It would be chaos.
Of course most Christians don’t think like this. They think the promises of God, are more of a wish. Instead of standing on God’s promise they are actually fleecing God with our own time table and how it should come to pass.
How to stand on God’s Promise
It’s time to stop wishing for the promises of God, and start standing on them. And all you have to do is trust God and take him at his word.
Here is what I mean by standing on the promise of God:
By standing on the promise of God you are essentially trusting that God will deliver on his promise.
You pray (without fleecing), to him by reading his promise by doing this you are in essence reminding God of his word. Remember his word will not return back to him void or empty and God states in your bible that he wants us to keep him in remembrance of his word.
Study your Bible. This is very very important. You will not know what his promise is unless you study what God has already promised and by doing so, you will not only what his promise states but also how to apply it to your life.
Waiting on God Here is where most of miss the reward. We live in an instant world. Instant oatmeal, 5 star microwavable dinners, and not to mention instant pudding. By the way my wife made home made lemon pudding and it top any pudding that I have ever ate. It was well worth the wait and a great delicious treat.
The point is we need to wait on God, and not try to speed up his timing. God is on time every time. His word is truth and it will come to pass. Just believe his word and know that he will bring it to pass in his own time and way. That is how you stand on God’s promise.
The promise of God is Yea and Amen
In closing, I want to show you two old english words from 2 Corinthians 1:20, that will help you in claiming God’s promise for your life.
Those two words are…
Yea meaning YES. Gods promise is yes, he will fulfil his promise for your life.
Amen is a term that many do not know. Most think it is what you say at the end of a prayer. However, it means “Let it be so!” Let the promises of God be YES And Let it be so in your life today.
Let me know what you think about this post. Let’s keep the conversation going. You might be surprised by the gems that you already have inside you.
