“And it came to pass at the end of seven days, that the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Son of man, I have made thee a watchman unto the house of Israel: therefore hear the word at my mouth, and give them warning from me.
When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered THY soul. Again, when a righteous man doth turn from his righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumbling block before him, he shall die: because thou has not given him warning, he shall die in his sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but his blood will I require at thine hand.
Nevertheless if thou warn the righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall surely live, because he is warned; also thou has delivered thy soul. And the hand of the LORD was there upon me; and he said unto me, Arise, go forth into the plain, and I will there talk with thee.
Then I arose, and went forth into the plain: and, behold, the glory of the LORD stood there, as the glory which I saw by the river of Chebar: and I feel on my face. Then the spirit entered into me, and set me upon my feet, and spake with me, and said unto me, Go, shut thyself within thine house. But thou, O son of man, behold, they shall put bands upon thee, and shall bind thee with them, and thou shalt not go out among them: And I will make thy tongue cleave to the roof of thy mouth, that thou shalt be dumb, and shalt not be to them a reprover: for they are a rebellious house. But when I speak with thee, I will open thy mouth, and thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; He that heareth, let him hear; and he that forbeareth, let him forbear: for they are a rebellious house.” (Ez 3:16-27)
Gods Watchman
Through out the centuries God has had his chosen watchman. Ezekiel, wasn’t his first either. You can read from Genesis through Malachi, in the old testament and continue from Mathew all the way to Revelations, and you will find God has thousands of watchman in each generation through both dispositions.
Remember Proverbs states, “there is nothing new under the sun”.
If you do see something new that you haven’t found in the word of God then you need to question it. I haven’t found where the apostles prayed for bodily healing and people received gold or silver caps on their teeth, or gold dust “mysteriously” sprinkled around the sanctuary. If you find it in the word of God, please let me know about it. Other wise avoid it like the neighbors big, viscous, black watch dogs that wants to eat everyone that comes within 20 yards of its 7 foot tall fence.
Many believe that God’s watchman are Prophets because Ezekiel was a prophet. However, I have not found this to be scriptural truth. in Ephesians 4:11 we find the prophet listed in the five fold ministry that God gave men as gifts.
And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers…
The scriptures does not list watchman in the 5 fold ministerial gifts of the New testament Church, because of this, I must assume that Gods watchmen are actually in the ministry of helps.
In order to confirm this assumption I must go back to Ezekiel chapter 2 verse 5, where God tells Ezekiel, that because of his word that the Lord gives him to proclaim to the house of Israel, they will know that a Prophet was among them.
The Office Of Gods Watchmen
- If you read Ezekiel chapter 1, You will find that the book opens with Ezekiel, receiving an open eyed vision from God.
- In chapter 2, God is speaking to Ezekiel, a young priest, through this vision telling him what to say to the leaders of Israel and calling him to the office of a Prophet in verse 5.
- Again in chapter 3 verse 16&7 days after the first open eyed vision, the word of the Lord comes to Ezekiel, again This time calling him to be a watchman to the house of Israel. What this means is that the Lord, is sending the prophet Ezekiel, also to the people to warn them of their sins against God, and to turn their hearts back to God.
God Ordains His First Watchman
If you will notice in our reference scripture Ezekiel 3:16-27, God ordained Ezekiel a watchman.
Now this “watchman” has a very different meaning than the tower watchman, that looked out for trouble outside as well as inside the camp.
In order to find this meaning, you must start a word study. Since the old testament was originally written in Hebrew I will turn to my concordance and Hebrew Lexicon and make a comparison between two words “Prophet” and “watchman”.
The reason I am going to so much trouble is because I feel the Holy Spirit, is telling me that Ezekiel was made a watchman for the purpose of:
- interceding in prayer on behalf of the people of Israel much like Abraham did for Sodom and Gomorrah.
- Witness to them the the law(s) of God that Israel received by the hand of God and delivered by Moses.
- to correct them with the sword of the Spirit, through the office of a prophet.
Why Prophets and Watchmen
In the Old Testament, it was the prophets of God, that were watchman but not all of the watchmen were prophets. Because men were un-regenerate. Their spirit man was not redeemed by the Blood of the Lamb. Instead their sins were covered by the blood of bulls and goats and that only lasted a short time.
Thank the Lord that we have such a merciful God, once we are washed white as snow through the soul cleansing blood of the lamb, He remembers our sins no more.
The unregenerate man, cannot get on his knee’s and pray to such a Omniscience, Holy, Separate and Other, God. For unregenerate man believes in being self supported, so he worships self or his own image, meaning man.
Gods Watchman Today
God still has his Watchman in today’s dispensation. These watchmen or women are those that access the Heavenlies, and battle on their knee’s. When the warning come’s today’s Watchman have no problem declaring to their Pastor or to those the Lord leads in the spirit of truth and love.
You will know these Watchman by their fruits.
What is the ministry of Gods Watchmen?
The ministry of the watchmen walk in the light of the prophetic but are not necessarily a prophet. They are men or women ordained by God, and God alone for this ministry.
Spiritually, Gods watchmen are miles ahead of everyone else and need to be, because God has set them upon the walls of your Church, community, State, and even the Nation. They see things that God reveals to them much differently than most, because God has open the veil of eternity to reveal these things that are already set in motion for individuals, the Church, Community, State or Nation. The watchmen need to pray these things through.

Here is an example, last winter I was interceding for my mother and father in law they both had cancer and failing fast. During that intercession the Lord told me that Persecution was coming on to the Church and Saints in America, soon.
Watchmen: Persecution On The Horizon
So, I began interceding for the Church and individual Christians that God will increase our faith in order to get through these times that are coming. Then in June I found that God not only gave me this message but thousands of other saints as well.
You see {!firstname}, there has been a major shift in belief among the majority in this Nation. They are against all things that that founded this great Nation. God, love of country, community, service, decency and morality, to name a few. It is a me and now generation. Many statistics point to this shift including why the Church has suffered loss among her ranks (falling away). However, the real enemy behind all of this is an anti-Christ spirit.
During one of President Obama’s speeches the Lord showed me a cartoon of the President. His sleeves were rolled up, his tie was thrown behind him as he stratteled Lady liberty on the ground beating her with his fists. This was enough to show me that our Country is changing and not the better.
Back in August, the Lord told me in prayer that Obama was going to be re-elected and that it would be by fraud. “that which is done in secret will be brought to light” However, I believe that God is allowing all of this to happen. I believe that we are at the edge of a new dispensation. The Millineal reign of Christ, is just on the horizon.
The Lord has shown me great and glorious things through out the years, what he has in store for his Church here in America and the world. I have also found the longer I have been used in the ministry of intercession, the more the Lord Reveals to me through his word and in the spirit.
The hardest part of of being a watchman is many of the revelations the Lord shows me in the Secret place, I am not able to talk about. Not to my pastor, not to my wife, not any one person.
I have tried to tell this stuff to my wife before, but when I do, her mind glazes over. She doesn’t understand. Or it doesn’t come out of my mouth right. That makes me feel as sharp as the backside of a rusty spade.
The Lord has his timing. I have learned to keep these things close to my heart and learn from the Holy Spirit through Gods word.
Watch & Pray Watchmen There Is No Better Way
As I stated above I do not think that the watchmen of God are prophets of God. Ezekiel was a prophet that had a duel calling. Watchman was that second calling. In the New Testament church the watchmen are intercessors. They are called to groan in the spirit in deep prayer and meditation.
There are many instances in the Gospels when Jesus warns his disciples to watch and pray.
Watch and pray , that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Take ye heed , watch and pray : for ye know not when the time is .
Watch ye and pray , lest ye enter into temptation. The spirit truly is ready, but the flesh is weak.
Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass , and to stand before the Son of man.
It would be un-Biblical to for me to say that the Ministry of Gods Watchmen in the New Testament and in this dispensation was a prophet calling. I cannot find this in the New Testament except for intercessory work. So, in conclusion I would have to place the ministry of Gods watchmen in the ministry of helps.
