Honoring Mothers

Happy mothers day.

Today is the day that we honor our mothers.

Why should we honor our mothers?

Because with out Mom you would not be here. You would not know the joy’s of this life.
mothers day

Today’s scripture verse comes from Proverbs 31:28

“Her children arise up, and call her blessed”

You have been influenced by your mother, whether you relize this fact or not.

Let’s take a closer look at some interesting facts.

George Washington’s mother was a pious woman. Look at what he accomplished in his life.

Sir Walter Scott’s mom was a lover of poetry and music.

Nero’s mother we  learn was a murderess. Look at how he turned out. Nero had Paul the apostle beheaded.

Lord Byron’s mom was a proud and violent woman.

How about Jesus mom Mary? She was a nobal and blessed mother. Just read any of the four Gospels to learn more about her.

Today I have been reflecting on my mom. I didn’t treat my mom as good as I should have. She passed away back in 1999 from carbon monoxide poisoning. She smoked most of her life and for the last 2 years of her life she was on oxygen. She felt like she couldn’t breath and crank her oxygen up. she couldn’t blow the carbons from her lung which eventually killed her on the way to the hospital.

I miss her a lot and if I could change the way I acted toward her some of the time I wouldt. Iam just glad that the Lord used me as an instrument of righteousness and help bring her into Gods glorious Kingdom before he took her home.

You may not relize how instrumental your mom is in your life until you take the time to reflect and meditate on these things. My wife Helen and mother of our 2 children Darrick and Kristen was and still is the anchor of our family.

Not long ago, we went out for dinner at a plae that my son Darrick work for a few years during and after high school. The manager whom work with my son came up to us and ask if we were Darricks parents. Then he shook our hands and said, “I just wanted to shake your hand becasue you raised  such a hard working boy that walk to the beat of his own drum morally”.

My wife loves talking about that encounter when ever she can. Our daughter Kristen was the same way. She knew what she wanted to do before graduating high school. She felt the Lord called her to be a nurse. She aapplied for scholar ships and applied herself fully to getting into a good collage.

This year she graduates from Collage of the Ozarks ( a christian collage in Branson Missouri where the students work for their education. Their slogan is Hard Work U) and will have two more years left in nursing school. When she is through she will have earned a masters in Nursing.

The point is I know for a fact that my wife, the mother of our children is the one that influence them both to be the way they are. Helen is the anchor of our family. I love her more than she knows.

The influence of a mother upon the lives of her children and husband in my case can not be measured. A mothers children, know and absorb her example and attitudes when it comes to honesty, kindness and temperance.

Prayer: Thank you Lord for mothers of influence. For mothers that love us and keep us. Amen.

Today we honor blessed mothers of influence all around the world and in our homes.
