I would like to talk about the prophetic movement failure and modern prophets. Who are they? And are they among us today? Let’s start with the last question first.

Are they among us today?

Scripture reference is Ephesians 4:11

And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some,evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;

By this scripture alone it should be ovious that there are prophets among the church today. We know that there are many so called “prophets” that self proclaim themselves as a modern day prophet. You may know one or two, maybe even a few hundred.

Ok, enough of the joking, this is really serious stuff for you as a christian to know. Because there are many “false phrophets” among us as well and it is really, really, important for you to know the diffrence.

Who are these Modern day Prophets?

There really isn’t no good answer to this question. I do not know “personally” a true modern day prophet. However, I think that Leonard Ravenhill was a modern day prophet as well as a revivalist and author.

David Wilkerson, operated in the prophetic gifts and callings of a Watchmen. He was also a Pastor, teacher and author of the book “The cross and the switch blade”.

One of the best examples of a modern day prophet that I can give you is that of our Lord Jesus Christ. By reading the gospel’s of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John again and watch how our Lord deals with his disciples and how he deals with people in light of scripture. The gospel’s is the corner stone of our christian faith.

Now, I would encourage you to read and study all four of the gospels as soon as possible, because time is short.

The reason why I ask you to watch how Jesus, ministers as a prophet is because he deals with people disciples included, totally different than most of these so called prophets that we have today.

I had a dealing with a man that claimed to be a prophet several years ago.  He was invoved with the Kansas City Prophets. Today you can see a watered down version on GodTV and the ministries on there.

Any way what this young man said to me wasn’t right. He fished for information then began prophesying on that bases. I cringed spiritually over this act. And he was very obnoxious and did not follow what the scriptures teach us about prophets in the new testament at all.  I believe he was over the line scripturally and he seemed to be acting more of a psychic than a prophet. from such you should turn away.

Prophetic Movement Failure

I believe the prophetic movement failure lie’s in humanism and the lack and knowledge of the gifts and callings of this particular ministry. The biggest is in the actions of the prophet. With that said, let’s look at what the modern day prophet should look like in the light of scripture.

We find our scripture reference in 2 Peter 1:1-21

1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them thathave obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousnessof God and our Savior Jesus Christ:

1:2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,

1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things thatpertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him thathath called us to glory and virtue:
1:4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises:that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, havingescaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

1:5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and tovirtue knowledge;

1:6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and topatience godliness;

1:7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindnesscharity.

1:8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that yeshall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our LordJesus Christ.

1:9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off,and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.

1:10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your callingand election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into theeverlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

1:12 Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always inremembrance of these things, though ye know them, and beestablished in the present truth.

1:13 Yea, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir youup by putting you in remembrance;

1:14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as ourLord Jesus Christ hath shewed me.

1:15 Moreover I will endeavor that ye may be able after my decease tohave these things always in remembrance.

1:16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we madeknown unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.

1:17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when therecame such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is mybeloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

1:18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we werewith him in the holy mount.

1:19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do wellthat ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, untilthe day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

1:20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of anyprivate interpretation.

1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holymen of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
